QPC Weekly Notices

God’s Glorious Cathedral Wed 28th Jun

During the month of July our morning services at QPC will focus on some of the wonderful aspects of our creation.  The opening of the book of Genesis will provide the backdrop for this and we would love it were you able to send us photographs for each week on the themes that we will be exploring.  The easiest way to send photographs in would be to email Ian Harrower - ian.harrower2@virgin.net - and also the Church Office - office@qpcweb.org  Each week in July we hope to do a short feature with the photographs submitted.  To inspire you, the following themes will be explored on the following dates and any photos you have reflecting these different parts of creation should be sent in.  Some of the photos will also be displayed on the Church's Facebook page.

23rd July - In praise of animals and people

30th July - In praise of all creation

Teddies for Tragedies Fri 2nd Jun

Teddies for Tragedies is a knitting pattern!  This project started around 1986 and Queensferry Parish Church has been involved since 1999 when the Guild first took up the challenge.  Our Teddy Bears, (over 6,000 since 1999-2016) and other knitted items such as beanie hats, blankets, scarves and mitts, have been sent to orphaned and refugee children in places such as Malawi, Nepal, Romania, Moldova, Syria, Haiti, Chernobyl, even Scotland, through various charities.  They give the children comfort, hope, and something of their own to love.
It has also been proved that children in hospitals recover faster if they have one of these Teddies.  Teddies have gone to many places where there are disasters, whether natural or man made. Sadly there will always be a need for them. All too often there are Civil Wars, Famines or Natural Disasters.  If you would like to help with knitting, or crochet, you can contact Norma Brown, co-ordinator at clairebear_tft@yahoo.co.uk.  This year’s ‘Teddies Blessing Service’ is on Sunday 20th August during both services. The teddies (also blankets, beanie hats, scarves and mitts) will be sent where they are needed some time later. Norma will give an update on what happened to last year’s donations during the service.
