First Ever Virtual Climate Lobby of Parliament See: Christian Aid Wed 1st Jul
On Tuesday 30 June thousands of people logged on to talk to their MPs about their hope for a green and just economic recovery for Britain after coronavirus, one with people, climate and nature put first. Over 13000 people registered to take part and over 200 MP meetings were set up. A coalition of over 30 organisations including Christian Aid were at the heart of this lobby.
South Queensferry’s MP Christine Jardine spoke on Zoom to 12 of her constituents about their priorities for the Government. Topics covered included
oil and gas industries using their considerable technological skills to promote cleaner energy such as the use of Hydrogen
retro fitting of existing houses with improved insulation and thermal pumps
making transport greener by increasing investment in cycling,walking infrastructure and public transport
asking the UK Government to change from using its overseas aid budget on oil and gas energy to the cleaner and cheaper use of renewable energy.
