What's On

Become a Member

Becoming a member of the congregation is a relatively straightforward matter.

If you are already a member of the Church of Scotland though in another congregation then all you need to is to contact the Session Clerk, Rollkeeper or Minister of the previous congregation, requesting from them a copy of your ’lines’. Once you receive these simply hand them to the Session Clerk, Rollkeeper or Minister of our congregation. An opportunity to publically welcome you will be taken at a future church service and a visit will be arranged with you from the minister. Normally you will be allocated an elder who will in time pop by and introduce themselves. Thereafter they will keep in touch with you in order to help you connect with the life of the Church. There will also be an opportunity for you to contribute to the life of the church, either through some particular area of ministry and/or through regular giving to support both the local and wider expressions of church life.

If you are already a member of a Christian church then a similar process to that outlined above is followed. It may be the case that your previous church doesn’t have any such thing as lines – fret not, a conversation with our minister should allow your request to be set before the Kirk Session which has the ability to welcome you into membership of our church by what is called, ‘resolution of the Kirk Session’.

If you have never joined a Christian church then the route into membership is to participate in one of our occasional courses, which seek to cover both what we believe and how we operate. A word with the minister alerting him to your interest in exploring such things will then allow such courses to be advertised for others to come on board. Courses will then be arranged at a time and place that suits all.
