What's On

Weddings

Anyone interested in being married at Queensferry Church should in the first instance contact the Minister. A meeting will then be arranged between Minister and the bride and groom, usually in the Manse at 1 Station Road, where the dates and the details of what’s involved in getting married will be explored. At the first meeting the minister will explore with the couple just what being married in a Christian ceremony is all about and how this is distinctive from a civil celebration. At that stage the legal aspects of the ceremony are outlined and reference made to the need to register the wedding. When the ceremony is to be conducted locally contact will require to be made 4-6 weeks before the event with the local registrar, or drop by the office at:

53 High Street, South Queensferry, EH30 9HP
Tel: 0131 331 1590
Fax: 0131 331 5921

The format and elements of the service are also looked at and some pointers given as to the variety of decisions to be made before the big day!

Nearer the wedding day a further meeting is held with the minister to see how all the decisions have turned out and it is at that stage the final details for the service are agreed. In addition we spend some time looking at some of the joys and challenges of married life.

The day before the wedding a rehearsal for all involved on the day (bridal party and parents) is held – usually at 4.00pm or 7.00pm.
There are fees involved for the use of the Church covering the likes of heating and lighting, the organist and the Church officer (here to ensure the smooth running of everything at the rehearsal and on the day).
